Manitoba Flexible Learning Hub (MB Hub) is launching a new series of learning resources for Manitoba instructors focused on digital capabilities and online pedagogy topics for instructors teaching in flexible learning environments.  

The system is a result of extensive research into best approaches for navigating the new world of GenAI, which has made contract cheating less attractive with its ability to create low-level essays. Curt Shoultz, Director of BU’s Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT) led the development of the policy, which has been received favourably by BU instructors.  

The emergence of GenAI gives instructors an opportunity to reflect, adapt and support both student learning and academic integrity

The goal of this module is to raise your consciousness about how power plays out in different situations, so you can start to see how it plays out in your own context.

How did anyone match the alternative assessment to the learning objective? Since there were several adjective lists for the cognitive Bloom taxonomy levels, I thought there were also banks of assessments to help a new instructor, right?  

Once your seamster, session or course is done it is time to: Reflect, plan for the next year – then rest.   PD planning for sessional instructors is just as critical as it is for all other instructors. We have a quick overview of PD planning and some low-cost options for PD events to help get you started.

The panelists shared their passion for helping students feel safe wherever teaching takes place. Discussion was wide-ranging and lively, covering the topics of curriculum development, course syllabi, course assessment, and how to improve the online spaces where courses are taught.
