  • About of series

    Purpose

Provide introductory and intermediate learning opportunities to MB Hub partners’ instructors as a shared creative commons resource.

The MB Hub recognizes it has an ongoing and active role in decolonizing the post-secondary education system. We acknowledge that the resources we create or promote must include education for instructors on integrating Indigenous teaching methods and Indigenous Knowledges into flexible learning environment courses and classrooms as part of our role in answering the Calls to Action and supporting Reconciliation.

    The learning opportunities should:

      • Inform and improve instructors’ digital capabilities and pedagogical approaches in flexible learning environments.
      • Provide resources and practical strategies that respect and address the needs of diverse learners at post-secondary institutions in Manitoba.
      • Provide guidance on integrating Indigenous teaching methods into flexible learning environment courses and classrooms.

With MB Hub context, flexible learning environments include synchronous, asynchronous, self-paced, synchronous dual mode courses (with both in-person and online individual attendance), hybrid or blended courses (with a combination of in-person and online attendance for each student) and distributed learning courses (with in-person and online attendance from classrooms or groups).

    Target audience

Our target audience are instructors at MB Hub partners who teach in flexible learning environments. They will work at one or more partner institutions, including colleges, polytechs, and universities. This audience is diverse and dynamic, with a high staff rate of change, as many flexible environment teaching positions are term roles. Some instructors will:

      • Come with vast subject matter expertise, but with limited teaching and pedagogical knowledge, or
      • Be experienced in face-to-face instruction with narrow digital technology skills or online pedagogy knowledge, or
      • Be experienced, in flexible learning instructors looking to improve and refine their skills.

Instructors will take self-paced learning modules in their institutions’ Learning Management system (LMS) and engage with learning resource packs (adapted OERs, toolkits or similar) on the MB Hub website and OpenED Manitoba when appropriate.
