Assessment Garden: Authentic and alternative assessment directory
Welcome to our directory of assessment methods. We focused on collecting authentic and alternative assessments as opposed to more traditional assessment.
Alternative and authentic assessments, ask students to think about what they've learned and consider what they need to solve a problem. Authentic assessments can involve complex real-world tasks and focus on letting students practice, get feedback, and improve their work rather than just giving a right or wrong answer. While alternative assessment might take spin on traditional assessment to bring more creatively.
For this directory, we did not assign each assessment method as either authentic, alternative or traditional as depending on the topic it could change.
